Hitopadesha 2.88 meaning

trinani n-onmoolayati prabhanjano mridooni neechaih pranatani sarvatah samuchchritan eva taroon prabadhate mahan mahaty-eva karoti vikramam

A storm does not uproot the soft grass that bends low on every side. It strikes only the tall, rigid trees. The mighty test their strength only against the mighty.

What it means
Humility and flexibility are a kind of protection. Those who bend gracefully survive storms that topple the stiff and proud. When pressure rises, softness can be a strength, not a weakness.
