adhodhah pashyatah kasya mahima n-opacheeyate
upary-upari pashyantah sarva eva daridrati
अधोऽधः पश्यतः कस्य महिमा नोपचीयते।
उपर्युपरि पश्यन्तः सर्व एव दरिद्रति॥
Whose sense of worth does not grow when they look at those below them? And everyone feels poor when they keep looking at those above.
