snehachchedepi sadhoonam guna n-ayanti vikriyam
bhangepi hi mrinalanam anubadhnanti tantavah
स्नेहच्छेदेऽपि साधूनां गुणा नायान्ति विक्रियाम्।
भङ्गेऽपि हि मृणालानामनुबध्नन्ति तन्तवः॥
Even when affection breaks, good people's virtues do not turn sour. When a lotus stalk is snapped, its fine threads still hold the pieces together.

स्नेह टूट जाने पर भी सज्जनों के गुण नहीं बिगड़ते। कमल की डंडी टूटने पर भी उसके रेशे उसे जोड़े रखते हैं।
रिश्ता टूटने पर असली चरित्र दिखता है। अच्छे लोग अलग होकर भी शालीन रहते हैं, बदला या बुराई नहीं करते।
