paneeyam va nirayasam svadv-annam va bhay-ottaram
vicharya khalu pashyami tat sukham yatra nirvritih
पानीयं वा निरायासं स्वाद्वन्नं वा भयोत्तरम्।
विचार्य खलु पश्यामि तत्सुखं यत्र निर्वृतिः॥
Plain water taken without stress, or delicious food eaten in fear — when I think it over, I see that true happiness is wherever there is peace of mind.
What it means
Luxury eaten with anxiety does not taste good. A simple life with a calm mind beats a rich one full of fear. Choose peace over prestige whenever you can.हिंदी में अर्थ
बिना तनाव के मिला सादा पानी, या डर के साथ मिला स्वादिष्ट भोजन — सोचकर देखता हूँ तो सुख वहीं है जहाँ मन को शांति हो।
डर के साथ मिली ऐश अच्छी नहीं लगती। शांत मन वाला सादा जीवन, डर भरे अमीर जीवन से बेहतर है। जहाँ हो सके, शांति चुनो।
