Hitopadesha 1.145 meaning

Better to live in a forest full of tigers and elephants, sheltering under trees, eating leaves and fruit, drinking water, sleeping on grass and wearing bark, than to live penniless among your relatives.

What it means
Sometimes the sting of feeling small among people you know hurts more than hardship itself. It is okay to step away, rebuild quietly, and return on your own terms.

Spoken by Hiranyaka.
