chalaty-ekena padena tishthaty-ekena buddhiman n-asameekshya param sthanam poorvam ayatanam tyajet

A wise person moves with one foot while keeping the other planted. Never leave your old home before you have properly checked out the new one.

What it means
Whether changing jobs, cities or plans, test the new ground before abandoning the old. Bold moves are good, but careful ones last longer. Keep one foot steady while you step forward.

Spoken by Hiranyaka.
