Chandogya Upanishad 7.1.3 meaning

soham bhagavo mantravid ev-asmi n-atmavich chrutam hy eva me bhagavaddrishebhyas tarati shokam atmavid iti soham bhagavah shochami tam ma bhagavan chokasya param tarayatv iti

Narada, after listing all the subjects he has mastered, says to Sanatkumara: "Sir, I know only words, not the Self. I have heard from people like you that one who knows the Self crosses beyond sorrow. I am full of sorrow. Please take me across it."

What it means
A brilliant scholar admits he is still unhappy. All the information in the world cannot heal inner sorrow. Honestly saying "I am struggling, please help" is the beginning of real change.

Spoken by Narada.
