Chandogya Upanishad · Uddalaka and Svetaketu
Chandogya Upanishad 6.16.2 meaning
atha yadi tasy-akarta bhavati tata eva satyam atmanam kurute
If an accused man is truly innocent, he makes himself true. Holding fast to truth and covered by truth, he grasps the heated axe of the ordeal and is not burned, and he is set free.
What it means
This ancient ordeal is a vivid picture of how truth protects. A clear conscience gives a strength that lies never can; whoever stands on truth can face hard tests without fear.
Spoken by Uddalaka.
