Chandogya Upanishad 6.14.2 meaning

sa gramad gramam prichchan pandito medhavee gandharan ev-opasampadyeta evam ev-eh-acharyavan purusho veda

A man blindfolded and left in a wilderness, once someone removes the blindfold and points the way, asks from village to village and, being sensible, reaches his home in Gandhara. In the same way, a person who has a teacher comes to know the truth.

What it means
When you feel lost, you don't need the whole map. Someone who has been there can loosen the blindfold and point a direction; then you keep asking and walking. Good mentors save years of wandering.

Spoken by Uddalaka.
