Chandogya Upanishad 6.2.1 meaning
sad eva somy-edam agra aseet
ekam ev-adviteeyam
सदेव सोम्येदमग्र आसीत्
एकमेवाद्वितीयम् ॥
In the beginning, my dear, this world was simply Being — one only, without a second.

प्रिय पुत्र, आरंभ में यह संसार केवल सत् था — एक ही, दूसरा कोई नहीं।
"एकमेवाद्वितीयम्" भारतीय चिंतन का मूल विचार है। हर विविधता से पहले एक शुद्ध अस्तित्व था, और वही आज भी हर भेद के नीचे मौजूद है, लोगों को बाँटने वाले भेदों के नीचे भी।
