Chandogya Upanishad 6.1.4 meaning

yatha somy-aikena mritpindena sarvam mrinmayam vijnatam syat vacharambhanam vikaro namadheyam mrittik-ety-eva satyam

My dear, just as by knowing one lump of clay you know everything made of clay — the different shapes are only names given by speech, while the clay alone is real.

What it means
Pots, cups and toys look different, but they are all clay. Likewise, the many forms of life share one underlying reality. Seeing the common clay beneath differences makes the world feel less divided.

Spoken by Uddalaka.
