Chanakya Niti 16.7 meaning
gunah sarvatra poojyante na mahatyopi sampadah
poornenduh kim tatha vandyo nishkalanko yatha krishah
गुणाः सर्वत्र पूज्यन्ते न महत्योऽपि सम्पदः।
पूर्णेन्दुः किं तथा वन्द्यो निष्कलङ्को यथा कृशः॥
Virtues are honoured everywhere, not great riches. Is the full moon, with its spots, bowed to the way the thin, spotless crescent moon is?

गुणों की हर जगह पूजा होती है, बड़ी दौलत की नहीं। क्या पूरे चाँद को, जिसमें दाग है, उतना प्रणाम किया जाता है जितना पतले, बेदाग दूज के चाँद को?
लोग दौलत से जलते हैं, पर इज़्ज़त ईमानदारी की करते हैं। साफ़ चरित्र वाला साधारण इंसान दाग़दार अमीर से ज़्यादा टिकाऊ सम्मान पाता है।
