Chanakya Niti 16.5 meaning

na nirmitah kena na drishtapoorvah na shrooyate hemamayah kurangah tath-api trishna raghunandanasya vinashakale vipareetabuddhih

No one ever made a golden deer, no one had seen one, and no one had heard of one. Even so, Rama longed for it. When ruin is near, the mind turns upside down.

What it means
Even the wisest can be fooled by something too good to be true. When an offer or desire seems dazzling and impossible, pause. That glow is often a trap. Clear thinking protects you most when temptation is strongest.

Spoken by Chanakya.
