Chanakya Niti 16.16 meaning

trinam laghu trinat toolam toolad api cha yachakah vayuna kim na neetosau mam ayam yachayishyati

A blade of grass is light, cotton is lighter, and a beggar is lighter still. Then why doesn't the wind blow him away? Because it fears he'll ask it for something too!

What it means
A witty reminder that constantly asking for favours costs you weight and respect in people's eyes. Ask when you truly need to, but build the habit of self-reliance and earning your own way.

Spoken by Chanakya.
