karmayattam phalam punsam buddhih karmanusarinee
tathapi sudhiyash ch-aryah suvicharya-iva kurvate
कर्मायत्तं फलं पुंसां बुद्धिः कर्मानुसारिणी।
तथापि सुधियश्चार्याः सुविचार्यैव कुर्वते॥
The results people get depend on their past actions, and even their thinking follows those actions. Still, wise and noble people act only after careful thought.
