A student should give up eight things: lust, anger, greed, craving for tasty food, obsession with looks, chasing amusements, oversleeping, and excessive pleasing of others.
What it means
Study needs a clear head. Distractions like cravings, temper, endless entertainment and too much sleep quietly steal your best hours. You don't have to be a monk, just protect your focus during the years that shape you.
Spoken by Chanakya.
