Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 2.4.3 meaning
yen-aham n-amrita syam kim aham tena kuryam
yad eva bhagavan veda tad eva me brooheeti
येनाहं नामृता स्यां किमहं तेन कुर्याम् ।
यदेव भगवान्वेद तदेव मे ब्रूहीति ॥
Maitreyi said: "What would I do with something that cannot make me immortal? Tell me, sir, only what you yourself know."
What it means
Offered half of a wealthy household, Maitreyi turns it down and asks for wisdom instead. Her question is worth asking of any big decision: will this give me what truly lasts, or only more of what fades?हिंदी में अर्थ
मैत्रेयी बोलीं: "जिससे मैं अमर न हो सकूँ, उसका मैं क्या करूँगी? भगवन्, जो आप स्वयं जानते हैं, बस वही मुझे बताइए।"
धन-संपत्ति का हिस्सा ठुकराकर मैत्रेयी ज्ञान माँगती हैं। हर बड़े फ़ैसले पर यह सवाल पूछने लायक है: क्या यह मुझे टिकने वाली चीज़ देगा या सिर्फ़ मिटने वाली?
