Bhaja Govindam 17 meaning

kurute gangasagara-gamanam vrataparipalanam athava danam jnanaviheenah sarvamatena muktim na bhajati janmashatena

One may go on pilgrimage to where the Ganga meets the sea, keep vows, or give in charity. But without true understanding, say all the teachers, freedom does not come even in a hundred lifetimes.

What it means
Good deeds and rituals are valuable, but they cannot replace inner understanding. Without knowing who you really are, outer practices remain incomplete. Pair every good action with reflection.

Spoken by Adi Shankaracharya.
