Living in a temple or beneath a tree, with the bare earth as a bed and a deerskin for clothing, giving up all possessions and indulgences: whom would such dispassion not make happy?
What it means
Unlike the earlier verses about outward show, this one praises genuine detachment. When you truly need little, you become free and light. Simplicity, chosen sincerely, is a source of deep happiness.
Spoken by Adi Shankaracharya.
