asam pranapareepsoonam vidheyam abhayam hi me
etavan hi prabhor artho yad deenaparipalanam
आसां प्राणपरीप्सूनां विधेयमभयं हि मे।
एतावान्हि प्रभोरर्थो यद्दीनपरिपालनम्॥
These beings are desperate to save their lives, and I must give them protection. The whole purpose of a master is to protect those in distress.

घातक विष के सामने शिव आगे आते हैं क्योंकि दूसरे संकट में हैं। सच्ची शक्ति इससे मापी जाती है कि वह असहायों की रक्षा के लिए कितनी तत्पर है।
