evam manah karmavasham prayunkte avidyay-atmany upadheeyamane
preetir na yavan mayi vasudeve na muchyate dehayogena tavat
एवं मनः कर्मवशं प्रयुङ्क्ते अविद्ययात्मन्युपधीयमाने।
प्रीतिर्न यावन्मयि वासुदेवे न मुच्यते देहयोगेन तावत्॥
When the self is covered by ignorance, the mind, driven by past actions, keeps pushing it into more action. Until love for me, Vasudeva, awakens, a person is not freed from being tied to a body.
What it means
Effort and discipline matter, but what finally sets the heart free is love for something higher than ourselves. Love changes the direction of the mind in a way that willpower alone cannot.हिंदी में अर्थ
जब आत्मा अज्ञान से ढकी होती है, तब पुराने कर्मों के वश में मन उसे और कर्मों में धकेलता रहता है। जब तक मुझ वासुदेव में प्रेम नहीं जागता, तब तक मनुष्य शरीर के बंधन से नहीं छूटता।
मेहनत और अनुशासन ज़रूरी हैं, पर दिल को अंत में मुक्त करता है अपने से ऊँचे किसी के प्रति प्रेम। प्रेम मन की दिशा ऐसे बदलता है जैसे केवल इच्छाशक्ति नहीं बदल पाती।
