Srimad Bhagavatam 4.9.35 meaning

svarajyam yachchato maudhyan mano me bhikshito bata eeshvarat ksheenapunyena phaleekaran ivadhanah

How foolish I was! The Lord was ready to give me the kingdom of the Self, and I begged him for status, like a poor man who pleases an emperor and asks only for a handful of broken rice.

What it means
Dhruva regrets asking for too little. How often we chase small rewards when something far greater is on offer. Before you ask life for something, ask whether you are aiming high enough.

Spoken by Dhruva.
