Srimad Bhagavatam 11.23.50 meaning

janas tu hetuh sukhaduhkhayosh chet kim atmanash ch-atra hi bhaumayos tat jihvam kvachit sandashati svadadbhis tadvedanayam katamaya kupyet

If people are the cause of my pleasure and pain, what does it have to do with the Self? It is between bodies. If one bites one's own tongue with one's own teeth, who should one be angry at for the pain?

What it means
If we all share one deeper Self, hurting each other is like teeth biting the tongue. Anger at others becomes strange when we see how connected we are. This view softens resentment.

Spoken by Brahmin Mendicant.
