bhaktyaveshya mano yasmin vacha yan nama keertayan
tyajan kalevaram yogee muchyate kamakarmabhih
The yogi who, while leaving the body, fixes the mind on him with devotion and speaks his name is freed from desire and the bonds of action.
What it means
How we face the end reflects how we lived. Bhishma, at his own death, shows calm remembrance rather than fear. A loving focus in hard moments loosens the grip of regret.
Spoken by Bhishma.
