Srimad Bhagavatam 1.6.36 meaning

yamadibhir yogapathaih kamalobhahato muhuh mukundasevaya yadvat tathatmaddha na shamyati

The self, battered again and again by desire and greed, does not become as peaceful through the disciplines of yoga, like self-restraint, as it does through serving Mukunda.

What it means
Rules and willpower help, but they are not always enough against strong cravings. Love and service often calm the heart more deeply than strict control, because they give it something better to hold.

Spoken by Narada.
