Srimad Bhagavatam 1.5.12 meaning
naishkarmyam apy achyutabhavavarjitam na shobhate jnanam alam niranjanam
kutah punah shashvad abhadram eeshvare na ch-arpitam karma yad apy akaranam
Even pure knowledge, free of all action, does not shine if it lacks love for the Lord. Then how can action shine, which always brings some pain, if it is not offered to God, even when done without selfish motive?
What it means
Knowledge without love feels cold, and work without a higher purpose feels heavy. Whatever you do, connecting it to something larger than yourself turns effort into offering and dryness into meaning.
