Srimad Bhagavatam 1.2.8 meaning
dharmah svanushthitah punsam vishvaksenakathasu yah
notpadayed yadi ratim shrama eva hi kevalam
धर्मः स्वनुष्ठितः पुंसां विष्वक्सेनकथासु यः।
नोत्पादयेद्यदि रतिं श्रम एव हि केवलम्॥
If someone performs their duties perfectly, yet it does not awaken any love for hearing about God, then all that effort is simply wasted labour.
What it means
Doing everything right is not the whole point. If your routines and rituals leave your heart unchanged, ask what they are for. Effort should make you warmer, kinder and more open, not just busier.हिंदी में अर्थ
यदि कोई अपने कर्तव्य अच्छी तरह निभाए, पर उससे भगवान की कथा में प्रेम न जागे, तो वह सारी मेहनत केवल थकान ही है।
सब कुछ सही करना ही पूरा उद्देश्य नहीं है। अगर नियम और कर्म दिल को नहीं बदलते, तो सोचिए वे किसलिए हैं। मेहनत से मन कोमल और खुला होना चाहिए, सिर्फ़ व्यस्त नहीं।
