Bhagavad Gita 9.20 meaning
traividya mam somapah pootapapa yajnair ishtva svargatim prarthayante
te punyam asadya surendralokam ashnanti divyan divi devabhogan
Those who follow the three Vedas, drink the soma and are cleansed of sin, worship me through rituals and pray to reach heaven. Earning merit, they reach the realm of Indra and enjoy the pleasures of the gods there.
What it means
Good deeds done for rewards do bring rewards—even heavenly ones. But Krishna hints that rewards, however grand, aren't the final goal. There's something deeper than earning and enjoying.
Spoken by Krishna.
