Bhagavad Gita 5.26 meaning
kamakrodha-viyuktanam yateenam yatachetasam
abhito brahmanirvanam vartate viditatmanam
For those who are free from desire and anger, who have mastered their thoughts and know the self, the peace of Brahman is close on every side.
What it means
Peace is not far away; it surrounds you, waiting. Desire and anger are what block the view. As you loosen their hold and know yourself better, you find calm was close all along. How it helps in real life
- When you are angry: Stuck in traffic on Outer Ring Road and fuming? Unclench your jaw, play a bhajan, and notice the calm already in the car.
- When you feel alone: Feeling peace is far away after a hard move abroad? Sit on your balcony tonight for ten minutes; notice the quiet already around you.
Spoken by Krishna.
