Bhagavad Gita 2.71 meaning
vihaya kaman yah sarvan pumansh charati nihsprihah
nirmamo nirahankarah sa shantim adhigachchati
One who gives up all desires and lives free from craving, without a sense of 'mine' and without ego, attains peace.
What it means
Much of our stress comes from 'I want', 'this is mine' and 'look at me'. Loosening these three knots brings a lightness and peace that possessions never can.How it helps in real life
- With family: Fighting with your brother over who gets the ancestral flat? Loosen the 'mine' a little and propose a fair split over chai.
- At work: Upset your idea was credited to the team? Let go of 'look at me' and notice how much lighter you feel.
Spoken by Krishna.
