yatato hy-api kaunteya purushasya vipashchitah
indriyani pramatheeni haranti prasabham manah

Arjuna, the restless senses can forcibly carry away the mind even of a wise person who is striving for self-control.
What it means
Even sincere, intelligent people get pulled off track by cravings. Knowing this helps us be honest and patient with ourselves, and to keep practising rather than feeling ashamed. How it helps in real life
- After a setback: Broke your no-smoking streak at a friend's wedding? Don't spiral into shame; note what triggered it and restart tomorrow morning.
- Phone & habits: Planned to sleep early but binge-watched three episodes again? Be patient with yourself and charge your phone outside the bedroom tonight.
Spoken by Krishna.
