Bhagavad Gita 18.16 meaning
tatr-aivam sati kartaram atmanam kevalam tu yah
pashyaty-akritabuddhitvan na sa pashyati durmatih
So whoever, with an untrained understanding, sees the self alone as the doer does not truly see. Such a person's thinking is clouded.
What it means
Thinking 'I did it all' is a blind spot, whether we are bragging about wins or drowning in guilt. Seeing the bigger picture keeps both pride and self-blame in proportion. How it helps in real life
- After a setback: Blaming yourself completely for your parents' divorce? Many forces were at play; talk it through with a counsellor or trusted friend.
- When you succeed: Saying 'I built this company alone' at every dinner? Name three people who made it possible, and say it out loud next time.
Spoken by Krishna.
