Bhagavad Gita 17.20 meaning
datavyam iti yad danam deeyatenupakarine
deshe kale cha patre cha tad danam sattvikam smritam
दातव्यमिति यद्दानं दीयतेऽनुपकारिणे।
देशे काले च पात्रे च तद्दानं सात्त्विकं स्मृतम्॥
A gift given simply because giving is right, to someone who cannot repay it, at the right place and time and to a deserving person, is pure (sattvic).
What it means
The best giving expects nothing back. Help someone who cannot return the favour, at the moment they truly need it. Thoughtful generosity is about the other person's need, not our gain.हिंदी में अर्थ
जो दान यह सोचकर दिया जाए कि देना कर्तव्य है, ऐसे व्यक्ति को जो बदले में कुछ न कर सके, सही जगह, सही समय और योग्य पात्र को, वह सात्त्विक दान है।
सबसे अच्छा दान बदले में कुछ नहीं चाहता। उसकी मदद करो जो लौटा न सके, ठीक उस समय जब उसे सच में ज़रूरत हो। सोच-समझकर दी गई उदारता दूसरे की ज़रूरत देखती है।
