Bhagavad Gita 16.17 meaning
atmasambhavitah stabdha dhanamanamad-anvitah
yajante namayajnais te dambhen-avidhipoorvakam
Self-important, stubborn, drunk on wealth and status, they perform rituals only in name, with show and without following the proper way.
What it means
Religion done for display is empty. When worship or charity is about being seen, it loses its heart. Quiet sincerity, even in a small act, counts far more than a grand show. How it helps in real life
- Helping others: Planning a grand Navratri event mainly for Instagram? Shift some budget to feed the needy quietly, and skip the sponsor banners.
- With family: Relatives compete over who throws the flashiest wedding. Keep yours simple and sincere, and spend the savings on your parents' comfort.
Spoken by Krishna.
