Bhagavad Gita 16.15 meaning

adhyobhijanavan asmi konyosti sadrisho maya yakshye dasyami modishya ity-ajnanavimohitah

'I am rich and from a great family. Who else is equal to me? I will perform rituals, I will give charity, I will enjoy.' So they speak, deluded by ignorance.

What it means
Even good acts like charity can become a show of status. When giving is about proving we are better than others, it feeds the ego instead of the heart. The motive matters as much as the act.

Spoken by Krishna.
