Bhagavad Gita 1.45 meaning

aho bata mahat papam kartum vyavasita vayam yad rajyasukhalobhena hantum svajanam udyatah

Alas, how strange that we are set on committing a terrible sin, ready to kill our own people out of greed for the pleasures of a kingdom!

What it means
Arjuna turns the blame on himself, accusing his own side of greed. Guilt can swing us from confidence to self-condemnation in minutes. Honest self-reflection is good, but it needs balance, not panic.

Spoken by Arjuna.
