Bhagavad Gita 1.36 meaning

nihatya dhartarashtran nah ka preetih syaj janardana papam ev-ashrayed asman hatv-aitan atatayinah

Janardana, what joy could we find in killing Dhritarashtra's sons? Only sin would cling to us for killing these aggressors.

What it means
Arjuna admits the Kauravas are wrongdoers, yet he fears guilt. Being right does not automatically make us feel at peace. Moral struggles are hard precisely because both sides carry real weight.

Spoken by Arjuna.
