Ashtavakra Gita · Chapter 3
Ashtavakra Gita 3.8 meaning
ihamutra viraktasya nity-anityavivekinah
ashcharyam mokshakamasya mokshad eva vibheeshika
He has no interest in pleasures of this world or the next, he can tell the lasting from the passing, and he wants liberation. How strange that he is still afraid of liberation itself.
What it means
We often fear the very change we long for, because it means losing the familiar self. That fear is normal. Recognising it helps you step forward anyway, instead of staying stuck in what is comfortable.
Spoken by Ashtavakra.
