Ashtavakra Gita 3.4 meaning

shrutvapi shuddhachaitanyam atmanam atisundaram upasthetyantasansakto malinyam adhigachchati

Even after hearing that the Self is pure awareness and supremely beautiful, a person who is deeply hooked on bodily lust sinks into impurity.

What it means
Hearing great truths is not enough if one craving controls you. Any compulsive appetite can quietly cloud your mind and choices. Noticing what has a hold on you is the first step to freedom.

Spoken by Ashtavakra.
