Ashtavakra Gita 3.2 meaning

atm-ajnanad aho preetir vishayabhramagochare shukter ajnanato lobho yatha rajatavibhrame

Ah, it is from not knowing the Self that one gets attached to illusory objects of the senses, just as not recognising a shell makes one greedy for the silver one thinks one sees.

What it means
A shiny shell on the beach can look like silver, and we rush to grab it. Much craving works the same way. When you see what something really is, the pull weakens on its own.

Spoken by Ashtavakra.
