Ashtavakra Gita · Chapter 18
Ashtavakra Gita 18.34 meaning
aprayatnat prayatnad va moodho n-apnoti nirvritim
tattvanishchayamatrena prajno bhavati nirvritah
Whether he strives or stops striving, the confused person finds no lasting contentment. The wise one becomes content simply by being clear about the truth.
What it means
Peace does not come from pushing harder or from giving up. Both can be driven by the same restlessness. What changes things is seeing clearly what is true; then contentment follows on its own.
Spoken by Ashtavakra.
