Ashtavakra Gita 18.35 meaning

shuddham buddham priyam poornam nishprapancham niramayam atmanam tam na jananti tatr-abhyasapara janah

The Self is pure, awake, dear, complete, beyond the world's spread and free of all flaw. Yet people absorbed only in practice do not know it.

What it means
You can be so busy improving yourself that you miss what is already whole in you. Methods are tools, not the goal. What you are looking for is not built by effort; it is recognised.

Spoken by Ashtavakra.
