Yoga Sutras 3.35 meaning

sattvapurushayor atyant-asankeernayoh pratyay-avishesho bhogah pararthatvat svarthasanyamat purushajnanam

Experience comes from confusing the mind with the true Self, though the two are entirely distinct. The mind exists for another; by saṃyama on what exists for itself, the Self is known.

What it means
You are not your thoughts or moods; you are the one aware of them. Pleasure and pain feel so personal because we mix the two up. Seeing the difference is the beginning of freedom.

Spoken by Patanjali.
