The dull-minded think 'I am this body'. The learned think 'I am a soul within a body'. But the great one, rich in discernment, holds firmly in the Self: 'I am Brahman'.

What it means
Shankara maps three levels of self-understanding. Wherever you are, the invitation is to keep asking 'who am I?' and not settle for the shallowest answer.

Spoken by Adi Shankaracharya.
