Valmiki Ramayana 5.53.3 meaning
dhanyas te purushashreshtha ye buddhya kopam utthitam
nirundhanti mahatmano deeptam agnim iv-ambhasa
Blessed are those great people who, by their wisdom, hold back anger when it flares up, as one puts out a blazing fire with water.
What it means
Hanuman, after setting Lanka on fire in anger, fears he may have harmed Sita. Anger acted on in the moment can destroy what we care about most. Use reason like water on a flame.
Spoken by Hanuman.
