yatha tava tath-anyesham rakshya dara nishachara
atmanam upamam kritva sveshu dareshu ramyatam
यथा तव तथान्येषां रक्ष्या दारा निशाचर।
आत्मानमुपमां कृत्वा स्वेषु दारेषु रम्यताम्॥
Just as your own wives must be protected, so must those of others, Ravana. Make yourself the measure, and be content with your own wives.
What it means
Sita gives Ravana the golden rule: treat others' families as you would want yours treated. Putting yourself in the other person's place is the simplest test of right and wrong.हिंदी में अर्थ

सीता रावण को सुनहरा नियम देती हैं: दूसरों के परिवार से वैसा व्यवहार करो जैसा अपने परिवार के लिए चाहते हो। ख़ुद को उनकी जगह रखना सही-ग़लत की सबसे सरल कसौटी है।
