svakritair hanyamanasya ravan-adeerghadarshinah
abhinandanti bhootani vinashe papakarmanah
स्वकृतैर्हन्यमानस्य रावणादीर्घदर्शिनः।
अभिनन्दन्ति भूतानि विनाशे पापकर्मणः॥
When a short-sighted wrongdoer is struck down by his own deeds, Ravana, all beings rejoice at his downfall.

हे रावण, जब कोई अदूरदर्शी पापी अपने ही कर्मों से मारा जाता है, तो सब प्राणी उसके विनाश पर प्रसन्न होते हैं।
जो तात्कालिक फ़ायदे के लिए दूसरों को सताते हैं, वे अपने ही कर्मों से गिरते हैं और कोई उनका शोक नहीं करता। ऐसे जिएँ कि लोग आपके जाने पर दुखी हों, ख़ुश नहीं।
