Valmiki Ramayana 2.98.27 meaning
natra kashchid yatha bhavam pranee samabhivartate
tena tasmin na samarthyam pretasy-asty-anushochatah
No living being here can make things go just as they wish. That is why the one who mourns the dead has no power to change it.
What it means
Grief is natural, but Rama gently reminds Bharata that endless mourning cannot undo death. Let sorrow come and flow, then turn back to living and to the duties the departed would want us to fulfil.
Spoken by Rama.
