Valmiki Ramayana 2.57.4 meaning
yad acharati kalyani shubham va yadi vashubham
tad eva labhate bhadre karta karmajam atmanah
यदाचरति कल्याणि शुभं वा यदि वाशुभम्।
तदेव लभते भद्रे कर्ता कर्मजमात्मनः॥
Whatever a person does, my dear, good or bad, he receives exactly that. The doer reaps the fruit of his own actions.

हे कल्याणी, मनुष्य जो भी करता है, शुभ या अशुभ, वही उसे मिलता है। कर्ता अपने कर्म का फल स्वयं पाता है।
मृत्यु के निकट दशरथ अपने दुख को अपने पुराने कर्म का फल मानते हैं। हमारे फैसले लौटकर आते हैं। यह डर नहीं, आज सोच-समझकर जीने का कारण है।
