janmadata annadata vidyadata tatha-iva cha
kanyadata bhayatrata pancha-ite pitarah smritah
जन्मदाता अन्नदाता विद्यादाता तथैव च ।
कन्यादाता भयत्राता पञ्चैते पितरः स्मृताः ॥
The one who gives you birth, the one who feeds you, the one who teaches you, the one who gives you a bride in marriage, and the one who saves you from danger: these five are counted as fathers.
What it means
Fatherhood is not only biology. The uncle who fed you, the teacher who believed in you, the stranger who pulled you out of trouble: honour all of them, and be such a 'father' to someone yourself.हिंदी में अर्थ
